Saturated Colors

We saw them on the runways this Fall, and they’ve been popping up at design shows this past year, both virtual and in-person events. Saturated colors. Bright, beautiful colors in darker shades. Pumpkin, moss, azure, blush pink, eggplant. A deeply hued rainbow is making their way into homes across the nation, and across the pond. Some could even say this color-rich interior design trend was popularized in Europe. Artists, fashion designers, and interior designers alike are donning these lovelies in their work. Used as either a primary color or accent, depending on which palette you gravitate towards, there is a saturated tone to match your style. When it comes to renovating your house — be it a complete home make-over or a single room refresh, saturated tones work well with modern and contemporary decor. Below are some brands from the art and design world that are leading the trend.

  1. Italian furniture purveyors Riflessi has mastered the balance between clean, minimal lines and rich colors. Their Cross sideboard, made from thermo-treated oak is available in coke, a warm umber stain. We also like their marigold Meghan die-cast aluminum framed armchair.

  2. Studiopepe, who we wrote about in the past, has a keen sense of color. We love their Ritagli coffee and side tables, made from turquoise marble scraps — a true standout saturated tone!

  3. We discovered pumpkin, moss and mustard colored tables at Paola Lenti. Artist Nicolò Morales is behind some of the exclusive colors.

  4. Beirut design house, T Sakhi, run by sisters known for their playful product design and objets d’art, caught our eye a few years back with their Reconciled Fragments collection — mossy green tables made from resin. Ever since, we’ve been following them. An excellent example of saturated colors can be seen in the Wadi project. Each space strikes a balance with its use of pigment-drenched accessories and accent walls.

  5. Edra, one of our favorite Italian sofa designers has a wonderful outdoor collection, A’mare. Available in a vibrant shade of turquoise, this transparent seating selection is as elegant as it is artistic.

  6. Known for their endless collection of handmade rugs, Marc Phillips excels at blending saturated tones into statement pieces. We love this caramel-heathered rug spied in Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’s house as featured on Architectural Digest.
